Write a commentThis August, the Oswego Children's Theater will be presenting "Seussical Jr." a musical adaptation of the works of Theodore Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss.
The show presents several of the Seuss stories all mixed together to present one continuous tale including "Oh, the thinks You Can Think," "McElligot's Pool," "Horton Hears a Who" and "Horton Hatches an Egg," along with bits of several others.
Seussical also features many of the familiar characters created by Seuss including the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz and The Whos.
"Seussical" features a large cast and crew of local youth, with a bright, happy, score, colorful costumes, and a story is sure to enchant audiences of kids and grown-ups alike
The show is directed by Lyndsie Lee Jones and assisted by music director Kenneth C. Jones, Wayne Mosher Jr., assistant director, Kelly Mosher, Flo Ross along with Carla Larkin on costume design and Amanda Mosher on makeup design.
The play was written by Lynn Ahrens with music by Stephen Flaherty. The Children's Theater will be presenting the Jr. version of the show, which is scored for younger voices.
The Children's Theater is still looking for additional young actors to fill out the cast. OCT is particularly interested in younger actors to populate the town of Whoville and slightly older ones to fill the roles of the Wickersham Brothers.
"Seussical Jr." is slated to be performed at 7:30 .m., Friday Aug. 2, and Saturday, Aug. 3, with matinee performances at 2 p.m., Saturday Aug. 3, and Sunday Aug. 4 at the New Haven Congregational Church, located on Route 104 East between Oswego and Mexico.
