Oswego County residents will have an opportunity to gather, connect, and spark meaningful conversations on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, when Indivisible Oswego County (IOC) hosts its next Community Meeting at the Scriba Fire Department Community Hall.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
This month’s gathering features a speaker whose story has resonated far beyond his hometown. Matt Gordon, an Oswego native, Marine veteran, and nationally recognized community advocate, will headline the evening. Known online as @usmcangryveteran, Gordon has built a powerful digital presence with more than 540,000 followers on TikTok and over 350,000 on Instagram, using his platforms to elevate conversations about civic engagement, veteran experiences, and community-driven change.
Over the past year, Gordon has traveled across the United States meeting with veteran groups, grassroots organizers, and local leaders. He has also taken part in ongoing activities in Washington, D.C., giving him a front-row view of the challenges and momentum shaping communities nationwide.
His presentation in Scriba will focus on the surge of grassroots efforts and local initiatives he has witnessed…movements he believes are helping to shift energy, rebuild trust, and inspire people to step forward in their own neighborhoods. His message, grounded in lived experience, highlights both the obstacles facing communities like ours here in Oswego County and the resilience he sees emerging across the country.
Following Gordon’s remarks, attendees will break into round table discussions to explore the issues most pressing to Oswego County residents. These conversations are designed to bring neighbors together, elevate diverse perspectives, and strengthen community ties.
Whether you’re deeply involved in community work or simply curious about what’s happening locally and nationally, the evening promises to be both informative and uplifting. The event is free, open to all, and aimed at fostering the kind of dialogue that helps communities grow stronger…one conversation at a time.
