Students at Trinity Catholic School (TCS) recently held a Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser, raising $5,671 for The American Heart Association.

A portion of this money will go to TCS to purchase physical education equipment.
"This was a fun, healthy and successful event," noted Barbara Sugar, principal at Trinity.
She said the fun-filled event included 45 minutes of cardio-based exercise followed by a heart healthy snack as packs of sliced apples were generously donated by Subway and given to every student.
Grand Heart Ambassador, Anthony Maniccia, was instrumental in attaining the most pledges. Maniccia and his mom, K.C. held a fun night at Friendly's Restaurant where 15 percent of the proceeds were donated to the event. Maniccia collected more than $1,000 himself toward the event.
Ian Winsor won the Android tablet, which was donated by student ambassadors Rachel Krul, Leah Horn and Vanessa Flint.
According to Sugar, the students have been "living the corporal works of mercy" becoming active participants in their community by "Giving Drink to the Thirsty" at the Human Concerns Center; "Feeding the Hungry" through the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Paul's Church; and "Sheltering the Homeless" by collecting bottles and cans for Habitat for Humanity.
"I'm pretty proud of this school," Sugar said. "Since September, we've been talking as a school about the Corporal Works of Mercy and each month we have been performing a service project that relates to the work."
She said they actually started mid-February with "Visit the Sick" and continued it through March.
"Since we really couldn't go visit the sick, we held four events that either assisted the sick or raised money to fund research for cures," she explained. "We have 193 kids, pre-K through sixth grade, and we raised a combined amount of $15,820! Isn't that amazing?"
During the month of March, the students also assisted one of their own – a student who is sick and in need of ongoing medical care at the Boston Children's Hospital. A "FUN"draiser was held March 3 to assist the family with the cost of medical treatments.
