The students at Trinity Catholic School kicked off their third Annual Jump Rope for Heart Campaign Wednesday, Feb. 13.

The event began under the direction of former nurse, Debra Hilton. This year's event is being coordinated by current nurse, Christina Chamberlain.
Meg Gibbons, American Heart representative, met with students at the school to explain the purpose of the program. Students heard firsthand the benefits of the American Heart Association.
First-grader Anthony suffers from congenital heart disease and underwent surgery shortly after birth. Student ambassadors for the jump have purchased an Android Tablet to be awarded to the student who brings in the most pledges. Students are currently accepting pledges for the event to be held at the school March 20.
Last year's event raised $6,176 for the Heart Association.
In addition to learning how to have a healthy heart, the school received $300 in physical education equipment.
