On a recent afternoon, residents of Bishop’s Commons and St. Francis Commons boarded an old-fashioned trolley for a tour of sites of historical significance in and around the Oswego area.
Local Historian Justin White joined the passengers and provided unique insights into the various points of interest on a journey, as the trolley made its way from one side of the city, across the river, to the other.
Stops included Fort Ontario, the Oswego Speedway, where the trolley made a “hot lap” on the track, the Safe Haven Museum, the Oswego County courthouse, the Richardson-Bates House, Stone’s Candy Store, the SUNY Oswego campus and finished up at “the Loop” for an ice cream at Bev’s Dairy Treat.
