The 10th Annual Stone Soup Luncheon, a community initiative organized by the United Way of Greater Oswego County was a true celebration as community members filled St. Joseph’s Parish Center in Oswego to enjoy a delicious meal of soup, salad, rolls and dessert. The annual event strives to raise awareness and serves as a fundraiser for food pantries in Oswego County.

According to Ali McGrath, resource development director with the Luncheon was a great success. “We raised over $2,200.00 and collected hundreds of items for our local food pantries. I want to thank the community members who attended, the countless volunteers who made the event a success, The Oswego Lions Club and our many caring sponsors who donated the food for our luncheon: Canale’s Restaurant, Vona’s Restaurant, Oswego Country Club, Bridie Manor, The American Foundry, Greene’s Ale House, and The Press Box for providing our soups; C’s Farms for our salad fixings; Davis Brothers for the salad dressing; Kinney Drugs who provided bottled water; Bosco and Geers who provided the rolls; Giovanni Foods for cases of canned sauce; and Cakes Galore for donating our desserts. ” said McGrath.

“I would also like to thank the St. Joseph’s Parish for hosting the event; our committee members Marion Ciciarelli, Shawn Seale, and Helen Hoefer; and of course the many students from SUNY Oswego including our student interns Alyssa Barrett and Kay Duguay; and the Oswego Women’s Laker hockey team that helped to make our Stone Soup Luncheon a heartfelt event,” added McGrath.

All proceeds from the event, as well as the food that is collected, is donated to local food pantries at the Human Concerns Center, Catholic Charities of Oswego County, Salvation Army of Oswego County, and the Hannibal Food Pantry.
