Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late August and Grace (Dunsmoor) Kandt.
She met and married her husband of 54 years, the late Herbert L. Phillips and together raised their three daughters. She was a caring and loving homemaker, and more than anything enjoyed her time with her family. Verna also loved spending time tending to her gardens.
Verna is survived by her daughters, Carol Phillips of Hannibal, Joan (Donald) Muckey Phillips of Fulton and Shari (James) Pritchard of Hannibal; one sister, Mabel Norris of Minetto; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Verna was predeceased by her parents, her husband and three sisters, Ruth Ferguson, Eileen Cuyler and Grace Watts.
Funeral services will be held privately and burial will take place in Fairdale Cemetery.
