William N. Gregway, 85, a resident of East Bridge Street in Oswego, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at the Oswego Hospital.

Bill was born in Oswego, the son of the late William A. and Mary (Heisler) Gregway. He was a life resident.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a draftsman for the Miller Brewing Co. He had also worked as a designer and draftsman in many other capacities throughout the area.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

For 50 years, he was very active as a volunteer weather observer for the National Weather Service. Each day, he would track and report temperatures, precipitation, wind, and other measurements in the City of Oswego.

As a member of the Jaycees, he was a co-founder of the annual 4th of July parade that is held annually in Oswego. He was also a member of the Oswego Maritime Foundation.

Bill was a communicant of St. Paul’s Church in Oswego for many years.

He is survived by four daughters, Bernadette (Robert) Schuffenecker of Oswego, Audrey (Jason)  Taylor of Avon, NY; Jeanne (Sean) Abernathy of Galway, NY, and Kathleen Donnelly of Arlington, VA; a son, Thomas (Michele) Gregway of Mexico; his sister, Jo Saternow of Mansfield, CN; 13 grandchildren, Jay, Samantha, Corey, Patrick, Mary-Kate, Nathan, Evan, Mark, Andrew, Peter, Erin, Gweneth, and Margot; a great-granddaughter, Isla; his former wife, Dorothy Gregway of Oswego; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Toby.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 Saturday in St. Paul’s Church.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00-7:00 Friday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.
