Approximately 100 people attended the opening reception for the 34th Annual Members’ Exhibition at the Art Association of Oswego on Saturday, July 6.

The show consisted of 88 works of art in a wide variety of media. The theme of the show was “old and new”. Members were encouraged to submit two artworks, one recent work and one older piece. Some older pieces were done as far back as the 1970’s. Attendees were asked to vote on their favorite pairing of new and old work. “The artwork was all interspersed. “Playing the match-up game was exciting” said exhibition coordinator Bill DeMott. “Everyone seemed to have fun guessing whose pieces were whose”.

Awards were given during the reception. The awards judge for the show was Norman Berlin III, president of the Oswego Players. The following awards were announced. 1st Place and a check for $150 went to Robert Clark, for his painting Wonderland. 2nd Place and a check for $100 went to Tyrone Johnson-Neuland, for his mixed media piece Arab Spring. 3rd Place and a check for $75 went to Carl Patrick for his cherrywood sculpture Look Within. Two Solo Show Awards were also given. This opening reception also marked the beginning of a small ‘Spotlight’ show of photography by Joseph Besch in the Art Center lobby.
