Assembly Minority Leader Barclay and Oswego Mayor Corradino to Host Annual Blood Drive May 17

Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R,C-Pulaski) today announced he will once again host his annual blood drive with the American Red Cross.

This year he will be hosting the blood drive with Oswego Mayor Rob Corradino. The event will take place on May 17 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the Roy C. McCrobie Building, 41 Lake St. in Oswego.

"We're honored to join forces with Mayor Corradino and the American Red Cross to assist in blood donations within our community. The demand for blood remains urgent, and we're committed to helping however we can," said Leader Barclay. "Donating blood is a small act of kindness that goes a long way. For those who are able, I urge you to reach out to our office and schedule an appointment. Your contribution truly makes a difference."

In order to donate blood, individuals must meet certain criteria: they should be 16 to 75 years of age (16-year-olds must have parental permission, those age 76 and older need a doctor's note), weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and cannot have received a tattoo within the past year. If you've donated blood within the last 56 days, you are ineligible to participate. It is also recommended that donors eat a nutritious meal and stay hydrated before their appointment.

To schedule a time to donate, please contact Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay's district office at 315-598-5185, or email barclayw@nyassembly.gov. You can also sign up on the Red Cross website to select and schedule a time.
