Visit the Oswego Public Library on Saturday afternoon, May 18 to hear stories from Road Trip Dad Daniel Witmer.
His online column, read by hundreds every month, can be accessed at roadtripdad.substack.com  The blog began in 2012 and draws on his 40+ years of playing, coaching, and writing about lacrosse.
Dan Witmer taught high school English at Hannibal HS for 33 years before retiring in 2015. In 2018, he published ... and piles to go before I sleep - The Book of Wit, his memoir about his many, often humorous, teaching experiences.
He has coached lacrosse at the college and scholastic levels for the past 42 years, and has also refereed, served on the staff of local and international tournaments, and managed both box and field lacrosse teams. He is currently the assistant men's lacrosse coach at Oswego State, a high school referee, a staff member for the iconic Lake Placid Summit Classic, and staff director for the upcoming World Lacrosse Men's and Women's Box Championships set for September 2024 in Utica, NY.
Over the past 12 years, he has written more than 600 weekly newsletters/blogs entitled Road Trip Dad, and he has published three Best of RTD collections of some of his favorites. His pieces describe his many lacrosse adventures, beginning as a "Lax Dad" and continuing to discuss college, high school, international, and summer lacrosse - coaching, parenting, officiating - you name it!
He says, "Lacrosse has taken me all over New York State, the country, and to Israel, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Belgium, and Australia, and I love to write about my adventures." Come meet Dan and hear some of his stories at 2 PM Saturday May 18!
