Join us to celebrate Albion author Daniel Southcott and the release of his first novella, "Oh, Danny Boy," at the Oswego Public Library on Saturday, March 8th, at 2:00 PM.
After a lifetime of working as a pipe fitter and plumber, Southcott became a first-time writer of a short story about family, faith, values, life choices, and consequences. The talk will take place after the St. Patrick's Day Parade, so stop by for an engaging discussion and hot drinks to warm up! To start the event, Larry Rapshaw will be performing Irish music live. Rapshaw is a traveling music therapist who entertains people of all ages with piano and accordion shows. He also conducts workshops and art activities for seniors by working with ARISE of Oswego.
The title "Oh, Danny Boy" is inspired by a line from a song that resonated with Danny as he embarked on a promising career path as a plumber's apprentice: "The pipes, the pipes are calling." Unfortunately, the bottle and marijuana pipes had already started calling, leading to choices that changed his life in the blink of an eye,
Upcoming on April 5th is Poetry & Creative Nonfiction with Laura Donnelly and Linda Loomis. Hear tips on writing about memory and the places we're from with professor and poet Laura Donnelly and area journalist Linda Loomis.
