The Child Advocacy Center (CAC) of Oswego County invites you to join them for a great time for a great cause. As part of the Annual Warm Up Oswego celebration, the CAC will hold its 3rd Annual CAC Chicken Wing and Micro-Brew Fest on Friday, February 7, at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center, East First Street in Oswego, adjacent to the Best Western, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.

One of Warm Up Oswego's official Fiesta Hot Spots, the 3rd Annual CAC Chicken Wing and Micro-Brew Fest will feature chicken wings from a variety of Oswego County's favorite eateries. Each restaurant will offer samples of their signature chicken wings as they compete for the CAC's Blue Ribbon Award for the best chicken wing. Additionally, samples will be available for a wide selection of micro-brews courtesy of Eagle Beverage of Oswego.

Executive Director of the CAC of Oswego County, Karrie Damm, is looking forward to the event and is excited to once again be a part of Warm Up Oswego. "Last year's Chicken Wing and Mirco-Brew Fest was a huge success. We welcomed more than 500 attendees who enjoyed a wide variety of delicious chicken wings and micro-brews," said Damm.

"Thanks to the efforts of our fundraising committee: John Zanewych, Elizabeth Fadden, Sara Finley, Melanie Proper, Melanie Russell, and Mary Helen Park we have added new eateries to the wing competition and are offering our guests the opportunity to enjoy even more choices of chicken wings and micro-brews. We are happy to be a part of Warm Up Oswego and are excited to be once again holding the event at the beautiful Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center," said Damm.

In addition to the chicken wing and micro-brew tasting, the event will also feature an "Attitude Adjustment Hour" from 5:00 - 6 p.m., with live entertainment with Mike Shiel followed by the main event from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. featuring live entertainment from local favorites, F-5.

All proceeds from the CAC's Chicken Wing and Micro-Brew Fest will benefit the CAC and their efforts to serve children and their families affected by child abuse. "The epidemic of child abuse continues to plague Oswego County. With the support of concerned community members we can raise the awareness of child abuse and develop the resources necessary to allow the CAC continue its mission of responding to child abuse in ways that bring about healing and justice for children and their families, and working to reduce and prevent child abuse in our communities," said Damm.

Located at 301 Beech Street in Fulton, the CAC is a non-profit organization that works hand-in-hand with local law enforcement, prosecution, child protective services, medical providers, mental health providers, and victim advocacy professionals in Oswego County to protect and serve child victims of sexual and physical abuse. In 2013 the CAC served 475 children and families in Oswego County, an increase of over 48% from the previous year.

"We provide advocacy and mental health services to approximately 80 children each week. It is becoming increasingly more difficult to for us to meet the increased demand. The CAC Chicken Wing and Micro-Brew Fest is a fun way to raise awareness of child abuse in Oswego County and help us raise some much needed funds so that we may continue to serve our community as a resource for children and families affected by abuse," said Damm.

Tickets to attend the CAC Chicken Wing & Micro-Brew Fest are $20 each, advance sale, $25 at the door, and include a sampling of each restaurant's signature chicken wing and each micro-brew. Individuals and businesses interested in supporting the CAC may do so by becoming an official event sponsor. Sponsorship levels begin as low as $150 and include tickets to the CAC Chicken Wing and Micro-Brew Fest and recognition during the event.

Damm added that a limited number of openings are still available for restaurants that would like to be a part of the event. For more information on the CAC Chicken Wing and Micro-Brew Fest, contact the CAC at 315-592-4453, visit the agency's website at www.oswegocac.org or www.oswegowingfest.com or follow the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County on Facebook.
