Canale's Restaurant and the Oswego Players are teaming up once again for Chef's Kiss, a perfect pairing of fine dining and dinner theatre.
This annual collaboration serves audiences a special menu of classic Italian dishes and locally sourced comedies, featuring the debut of a new play by husband-and-wife writing duo Juliet Aires Giglio and Keith Giglio.
The Giglios, whose credits range from Lifetime Original Movies (most recently, "Reba McEntire's Christmas in Tune") to second-chance romance novels ("The Trouble With Tinsel"), will be presenting their original work, "Broken Hipsters." The play is a poignant comedy about a pair of empty nesters returning to their old NYC apartment in search of a youthful reboot.
Keith says, "Broken Hipsters is not just about us, it's about all of us. As a character in one of our movies said, 'the funny thing about fictions is, it's often true.'"
"The Oswego players are all such great actors and it's been fun to see our words come to life. We hope that everyone can come out to see the show," said Juliet Giglio.
Also being presented is "The Cool Table" by Nicholas Gentile, who with the cast and crew of "Space Race," recently received the City of Fulton's Neil R. Jones Astronaut Award. "The Cool Table" is an absurdist comedy about the search for popularity in the cafeteria of a senior living facility.
"There's an excitement going throughout the restaurant that we're hosting the premiere of a play by professional writers," says restaurant owner Nick Canale, "and, of course, I'm always a fan of work by local luminary Nicholas Gentile."
"Our last Chef's Kiss sold out faster than any event we've ever hosted," Canale continued, "so we're adding another day to make sure more guests get the opportunity to see this incredible show. Tickets to Chef's Kiss packaged with our Christmas Dinner-To-Go Meal is the perfect holiday gift!"
Chef's Kiss takes place Saturday, January 25th at 6pm, and Sunday, January 26th at 5pm. Reservations are available at www.canalesrest.com or by phone at 315-343-3540. It is strongly recommended that you reserve your seats early.
