The Oswego State golf team claimed first place in the Keuka Spring Invitational at the Lakeside Country Club in Penn Yan on Wednesday afternoon.
Oswego opened the spring season on a high note, winning the tournament by nine strokes, as the team shot 317 on the day. Five Laker golfers placed in the top 10, aiding in the teams first tournament win of the season.
The top-two finishes belonged to upperclassmen Tyler Wurzer and Kyle Gaillard, who shot 77 apiece on the day to be named individual co-champions. Teammate Dan North also played a solid round of golf, shooting eight-over par (80) for a sixth-place finish.
Other notable performances went to senior Omari Howard and freshman Stuart Winn, both earning scores of 83 and finishing tied for seventh place.
The Lakers look to build on the tournament win when they return to the fairways at 12 p.m. on Sunday to compete in the two-day LeMoyne "Mike Bello" Invitational in Syracuse.
