The Oswego State men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Kane Invitational hosted by Cornell University on Saturday.
Both teams notched top-10 finishes in the 400-meter race. For the men, freshman Charles Callin took sixth place with a time of 51.57. In the women's race, sophomores Shaniece Gregory and Carly Vreugde placed in the top-10. Gregory finished in 1:02.27 to place fifth, while Vreugde recorded a time of 1:03.79 to finish 10th.
The women recorded another fifth place finish in the 5000-meter race. With a time of 19:59.65, senior Morgan Bronner placed fifth. Freshman Yajaira Ramos finished four slots behind with a time of 20:17.96.
Multiple Lakers recorded personal bests in the field events. In the triple jump, junior Akim Cadet set a new personal record of 13.13m to place ninth. Sophomore Tara Meyer finished seventh in the shot put event, throwing a distance of 9.59m.
The Lakers return to action on Friday evening as they travel to Rochester, N.Y. to compete at RIT.
