News from the Assembly Minority Leader

Statement From Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay

Will Barclay

After a great deal of consideration, I have decided that I will not seek re-election to the 120th Assembly District. I intend to step down as Minority Leader in the coming days, allowing for a smooth transition to new leadership early in the legislative session.

Lakers Win Fifth Straight Behind 14 Top Times

OS Swim and Dive

The Oswego State men's swimming and diving team continued its win streak, which now sits at five, with a 174-105 victory over Brockport in Laker Pool on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Lakers go to 5-1 on the season while the Golden Eagles falter to 1-3.

In all, Oswego recorded the top time – or score – in 14 of a possible 16 events during Saturday's meet. The day started with a more than four-second win for the 200-yard medley relay group of Devon Foster, Jacob Mullet, Sanjay Raman and anchor Austin Nau (1:43.03). James Dillon kept the Lakers winning ways with a top finish in the 1000-yard freestyle, beating his next closest competitor by more than 20 seconds (10:58.62). He followed that up with another victory, this time in the 200-yard free, edging out teammate Alex Kemper by .32 (1:57.91).

The 200-yard medley teammates of Foster and Mullet went 1-2 in the 100-yard backstroke, respectively before Dylan Tiefenthaler earned a win in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.52).

Next to take an event was Jay Choi, winning the 200-yard fly with a time of 2:12.65. Nau then checked off a few more boxes in the win column with a time of 21.89 in the 50-yard free and 50.42 in the 100-yard free.

Foster claimed another triumph in the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 2:09.44. Mullet then secured the 200-yard breaststroke by almost exactly 10 seconds. Dillon and Raman picked up the final two wins for Oswego in the 500-yard free and 100-yard fly, respectively.

Despite being counted as exhibitions, Nau had the top time in the 100-yard IM (57.94) while Raman, Tiefenthaler, Kemper and Dillon had the fastest relay in the 200-yard free (1:36.10).

Oswego will return to action for the Hamilton College Invitational, a two-day meet, beginning on Friday, Dec. 4.
