There was an electronics recycling event held on Saturday, June 26th, at Romney Field on the SUNY-Oswego campus.

Operated by Sunnking Inc. of Brockport, NY, the free event allowed residents to safely discard unused or obsolete electronic devices from their homes or businesses.

Sunnking's community outreach director Cindy Jessop said that the company holds these free recycling events all over central and western New York. "Nine out of ten people have electronic devices that need to be disposed of," Jessop said. "These events help to keep them out of the landfill and conserves resources through recycling."

NYS Assembly Majority Leader Will Barclay, 130th District Assemblyman Brian Manktelow, Oswego County Legislator Terry Wilbur and Oswego City Mayor Billy Barlow were also on hand, volunteering their time to help direct residents through the early steps of the drop-off procedure.

Several hundred residents had registered for today's event. Jessop said, "It's a long day for our people, but they're still smiling even though it's raining. We're having a good day!"

The Oswego Police Department assisted with traffic control on Route 104 and County Route 7, as there was heavier than usual traffic in the area due to Oswego High School's graduation ceremony being held elsewhere on the SUNY Oswego campus.
