Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Foster and Dorothy (Wright) Mayer and was a graduate of the Oswego High School.
He worked with his father at the Scotty's Service Center in Oswego and retired from the Oswego City School District after thirty years.
Survived by three sisters, Marlene(Wayne) Davis of Scriba, Diane (David Hoefer) Vickery of Scriba, Donna (Michael) Weegar of Liverpool, two nephews, Christopher (Michelle) Davis, Scott (Sarah) Davis,niece, Jennifer See Driskell. four great nieces and nephews, Shelby (Dustin)Davis, Skyler Davis, Evan Davis and Eli Davis.
Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family.
There are no calling hours.
