Whether you are a seasoned backyard gardener or a newbie still looking for your green thumb, these free seminars can help you get started on the right track.
CountryMax in Oswego is hosting two seminars by master gardeners from Cornell Cooperative Extension to help promote gardening knowledge in our community. Space is limited, so be sure to sign up for any seminars you plan on attending!
On Sunday, September 27 at 3pm, the master gardeners will talk about how to grow your own fruit trees. Discover what it takes to help your trees not just survive, but thrive, with practical knowledge that provides valuable insights—whether you are just getting started or are looking to build upon your experience. Register online here (opens TicketLeap).
Then, on Sunday, October 24 at 3pm, the master gardeners will return to talk about the principles of companion planting—also known as polyculture gardening. This practice helps maximize growing potential and protect against disease by taking advantage of the types of nutrients different plants take up and put into the soil, among other things. One common companion planting combination is known as the “three sisters”—corn, squash, and beans—but there are many types of companion planting methods. You can register for this seminar here (opens TicketLeap).
Additional free gardening seminars conducted by master gardeners from the Cornell Cooperative Extension program are available at the CountryMax stores in Brockport, Spencerport, Henrietta, and Webster. Find the full list of seminars here.
