Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late John J. and Josephine N. (Morgia) Galletta.
Gerald graduated from Oswego High School. He had a career in banking, starting in Marine Midland Bank and retiring from Key Bank as an assistant manager and loan officer after more than 20 years. He also worked at Goldburg’s in sales.
Gerald enjoyed bowling, watching his favorite programs on TV, was a big music lover. He also enjoyed musicals.
Gerald is survived by his three sons Robert (Amy) Galleta, Timothy Galletta, and Gary (Theresa) Galletta. He also leaves behind brothers, Gene Galletta, of Oswego and John Galletta, of Fulton, and sister Mary (Wes) Stevens, of Oswego, and 1/2 sister Tammy Dishaw, of Fulton, as well as grandchildren Justin Galletta, Joshua Galletta, Timothy Byrne, Dominic Galletta, Morgan Rudisill, and Dylan Galletta, and great-grandchildren Landon Galletta, Logan Galletta, Aubrey Galletta and Owen Rudisill. Also surviving is companion and close friend Cheryl Norton.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years Shirley (Dorval) Galletta in 2017, and his brothers Ronald and Paul Galletta.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at CTGS at St. Joseph’s Church on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 11 am. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
