The annual "Halfway to Harborfest" chicken BBQ and fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26, at Gibby's Irish Pub.
The event is always a popular reminder that the upcoming Harborfest is just six months away. The event is headlined each year by Gibby's "famous" chicken BBQ and a day filled with fun at his Irish Pub on Lake Street.
The 2013 version of the event will begin at 11 a.m. to coincide with the big Syracuse at Villanova basketball game being played that day. The BBQ will run until 4 p.m. unless it sells out first. There will be many "Silent Auction" items available including Syracuse and Harborfest apparel along with wine baskets.
"Celebrity Bartenders" will be on hand throughout the day and evening as the party will last well after the basketball game is over and the chicken is gone. Gibby's will have great entertainment on tap after the basketball game and local favorite Mike Shiel, will be playing beginning at 9 p.m.
The "Halfway to Harborfest" event at Gibby's will be previewed along with other Harborfest news on Thursday, Jan. 24, on WSYR's "Bridge Street" program at 10 a.m.
Tickets for the BBQ are $8 in advance and $10 the day of the event. They can be purchased at the Harborfest Offices at 41 Lake St. or at Gibby's Irish Pub.
