     The Oswego County Health Department celebrated National Nurses Week from May 6-12.

     The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified home health care, long-term home health care, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.

The Oswego County Health Department will conduct an emergency preparedness exercise on Thursday, May 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Oswego County Health Department at 70 Bunner Street.

Volunteer “patients” are needed from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 28 to simulate receiving a vaccine at the Oswego County Health Department’s annual public health drill.

     Modern or current may not be the word that comes to mind when you think of cottage cheese but this dairy case classic is experiencing a resurgence that is taking it beyond the diet plate to a starring role in how consumers eat today.

     Motorcycle and 5K run registration is now available for the annual summer ARISE & Ride for Ramps event. The event will take place June 8 at Fort Ontario.

     The Oswego County Legislature recently welcomed Judy Lester, supervising public health nurse with the Oswego County Health Department and Elizabeth Burns, N.P., director of student health services at SUNY Oswego's Mary Walker Health Clinic, to report on the handling of a suspected case of bacterial meningitis last February.

     Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) director Ellen Wahl will be guest speaker at the May 21 Caregivers Educational Session at the Oswego Office Complex, 70 Bunner St. Oswego.
