The pro-democracy grassroots group Indivisible - Oswego County has invited Rep. Claudia Tenney to a town hall meeting Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m. at the Lake Ontario Conference Center at the Best Western Plus hotel, 26 E. 1st St., Oswego.

People will have a chance to offer feedback to Rep. Tenney, who represents the 24th district of New York, regardless of whether she accepts the invitation. To date, more than 1,500 people have signed a petition asking her to hold a town hall meeting with her constituents.

“The people of the 24th District deserve to hear from their representative and to offer feedback to their employee. It’s part of the foundation of a well-functioning democracy. Rep. Tenney hasn’t held a public event in a very long time and her political party has said that members should avoid town hall meetings. We’ll offer her constituents a way to provide her with feedback,” said Paul McKinney, group coordinator.

Tenney represents a sprawling district that encompasses parts of the North Country, Central New York, the Finger Lakes and Western New York, made up of smaller cities and rural areas.

Indivisible - Oswego County has grown rapidly in less than two months, drawing up to 200 people for its weekly demonstrations in Oswego and crowds of more than 100 people for meetings around the region.

Indivisible is a nationwide nonpartisan community organization dedicated to rebuilding democracy through public information and activism. Local chapters throughout our congressional district are meeting to bring people together to share their concerns and learn about the many opportunities to make a difference.
