James A. Kronenbitter, 69, a resident of Scriba, passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 5, 2026, at his home.

Jim was born in Sumter, South Carolina, and moved to Oswego with his family in 1969. He was the son of the late Robert Kronenbitter, Lt. Col. USAF, and the late Mary (Faber) Kronenbitter.

Jim was a lifelong learner. He was a graduate of Oswego High School, and earned bachelor’s degrees from both SUNY-Oswego, and SUNY-Buffalo.

 For 40 years, he was employed with the nuclear industry in Oswego, retiring as an engineer with Constellation Energy.

Jim was an active member of the Oswego Moose Lodge, where he served as president. He was also a member of the Oswego Elks Lodge, the Oswego VFW, and the Oswego American Legion.

He was a life member of the NRA, and was an avid gun collector and hunter.

On occasion, he liked to try his luck and the casino, and he also enjoyed a taste of Irish whiskey now and then.

He took great pleasure in traveling, and spending time with his many friends.

 He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Paige (Francisco) Ruiz of Hillsboro, Oregon; his son, William J. Kronenbitter of Littleton, Colorado; a brother, Jack (Debra) Kronenbitter of Rapid City, South Dakota; three sisters, Ann (James) Conzone of Oswego and Zephyrhills, Florida, Ellen (the late David) Parker of Oswego, and Julie (Edward) Sova of Oswego; the mother of his children, Mary Kay Kronenbitter; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Linda (Crisafulli) Kronenbitter, his brother, William Kronenbitter, who died in 1978, and his brother-in-law, David Parker.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

There will be no calling hours.
