For the past two years, Khepera Coffee in Canal Commons, owned by Michael Fochtman, has donated a total of $1,600 to the Friends of Hospice in Oswego County (FHOC), by sharing a portion of his proceeds on Small Business Saturdays in November 2022 and 2023.

"Small Business Saturdays are among Michael’s busiest days of the year, and it was exceedingly generous of him to share a portion of that with the Friends of Hospice," said Elena Twiss, FHOC executive director. "In 2022, he donated $600 from his proceeds to us, and in 2023, he approached FHOC Board Member Gail Cooper to again set aside a portion of his proceeds on Small Business Saturday, this time amounting to $1,000.

"This selfless and charitable act is appreciated by us and the children we serve at Camp Waves of Hope, a free bereavement camp for children who have lost a loved one that we sponsor each August."

Friends of Hospice in Oswego County provides financial and non-medical assistance, as well as bereavement services, to help enhance the time Oswego County patients and their families have together, and to support them following their loss.
