The Art Association of Oswego announces its next exhibition, Life Legends, featuring the work of local artists Billie Jo Peterson & Barb Sheldon.

The opening reception is Saturday, June 4, 7-9 pm and is free and open to the public. Their artwork will be on display at the AAO during regular gallery hours or by appointment until Sunday, June 26.

Their work includes pottery, paintings, sculpture, mixed media, and prints. They often use the raku method ti fire their ceramic pieces. Using this technique with a reduction process can produce intensive colors on these decorative pieces. In addition they use a lot of found objects such bones and tools.

Both ladies are high school art teachers. Peterson is at the Oswego High School and Sheldon at Mexico Academy and Central School.

The Art Association of Oswego (AAO) galleries are housed in the Oswego Civic Arts Center, located at the northern end of East Fourth Street in the City of Oswego, directly across from historic Fort Ontario. Regular gallery hours are from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturdays and from 1 pm to 4 pm Sundays. The galleries may also open during art classes, theater performances and by appointment. Group tours are encouraged. For more information, please call us at (315) 216-6782.
