The H. Lee White Museum and Maritime Center celebrates Lighthouse Weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 3-4, beginning with a Lighthouse Stamping event from 10-2 p.m., Saturday.
A recently released series of New England Lighthouse stamps by the U.S. Postal Service will be offered for sale along with specialty envelopes and postcards. A custom cancellation stamp was created for the Saturday event.
On Sunday, Aug. 4, the museum recognizes the birthday of the United States Coast Guard. Lighthouse / Coast Guard historian and chair of the City of Oswego Lighthouse Committee, Ted Panayotoff, will be on hand both afternoons for discussion related to the theme of lighthouses. A special reduced admission is offered all weekend long. The Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
