Ames, a native Oswegonian, is the president/business manager of Lakeside Artisans, an artists' co-op located at191 W. First St., in Oswego.
Ames has received many awards for his landscape paintings from such local organizations as the Art Association of Oswego, the Fulton Art Association and the Salmon River Fine Arts Center and regional organizations like Rome Community Arts Center and statewide awards at the New York State Fair.
The painting that won the First Place Award is entitled "Home and Farm" and is on display at Lakeside Artisans. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday; and noon to 4 p.m., Sundays. It will be also open until 8 p.m., Thursdays, during the Farmers' Market.
