New and Incumbent Oswego County Legislators Take Oath in January Meeting

Four new members of the Oswego County Legislature were sworn in during the body’s organizational meeting Jan. 4.

James Scanlon, District 16, represents portions of the city of Oswego; Noelle Beckwith Salmonsen, District 21, represents parts of Oswego Town and the town of Hannibal; Michael Solowy, District 23, represents parts of the towns of Granby and Hannibal; and Frank Castiglia, District 25, represents portions of the city of Fulton.

Incumbent legislators also took their oaths of office.

The Legislature then re-elected Legislator James Weatherup, District 9, as its chairman. Weatherup represents portions of the village of Central Square and the town of Hastings. Legislator Linda Lockwood, District 11, who represents portions of the town of Volney and the city of Fulton, was re-elected vice chairwoman. Oswego County Clerk of the Legislature Betsy Sherman-Saunders was re-elected to her second term.

Oswego County Court Judge Karen Brandt administered the oaths of office.

The Legislature's next regular meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, in the Legislative Chambers of the County Office Building at 46 E. Bridge St., Oswego.
