On the heels of the two successful recent community projects – the Franklin Park playground facelift and the West Bridge Street Tree Canopy Restoration – the Oswego Renaissance Association is pleased to announce the restoration of the large historic circular bench in Montcalm Park.

According to Paul Stewart, ORA director, "Because we purchased so many trees for the West Bridge Street Tree Canopy Project which Novelis Oswego underwrote, we were able to negotiate a much better price per tree than we were initially quoted and we ended up with money left over."
Stewart said after discussions with Novelis, they were able to contract and have the large historic circular bench missing from Montcalm Park for more than 10 years restored.

The 16-bench seat panels have been staged and will be installed within the next day or two. Each seat panel is approximately 18" wide, 48" long and 3.5" thick with 18' of steel fashioned into a "ladder" inside each panel for additional support. Each panel weighs approximately 250 pounds and the entire bench has a 21-foot diameter and a circumference of approximately 74 feet.
"The neighborhood couldn't be happier," said First Ward councilor Fran Enwright. "Our broken park will once again be whole thanks to Novelis Oswego and The Oswego Renaissance Association."
