The Oswego County Department of Social Services (DSS) will sponsor an informational meeting from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Feb. 14, at the DSS offices, 806 W. Broadway, Fulton, for people who are interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents.
This meeting was originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9, and has been re-scheduled to Feb. 14.
Oswego County also needs Hispanic foster parents. El Condado de Oswego necesita padres de crianza hispanos.
DSS is looking for people who would like to become foster parents, particularly for children ages 8 and older who may have special needs for supervision. All children available for adoption through DSS have been in foster care for a period of time. The children are typically ages 10 and older and have special needs.
Attendance at the Feb. 14 informational meeting is required in order to enroll in the 10-week preparation program. Single and two-parent families may apply to foster or adopt. Both parents in a two-parent household must attend the training.
