The Oswego County Early Childhood Alliance (OCECA) is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a $4,500 grant from the Oswego County Community Foundation to implement a “Talking is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing” community campaign.

This initiative aims to enhance early childhood language development across Oswego County by providing essential tools and resources to families and caregivers.

“We are thrilled to support the Oswego County Early Childhood Alliance and their efforts to implement the ‘Talk, Read, Sing’ community campaign,” said Jill Abbott, advisory committee chair of the Oswego County Community Foundation. “This initiative aligns with our mission to invest in programs that enrich the lives of Oswego County residents, and we believe this campaign will have a lasting impact on early childhood development in our community.”

With the generous support of the Oswego County Community Foundation, the Early Childhood Alliance will be able to distribute materials that encourage parents and caregivers to enhance their children’s early literacy development by talking, reading and singing to them while participating in everyday activities such as grocery shopping, doing laundry and spending time outdoors. “Talking is Teaching” is an initiative of the Clinton Foundation that promotes critical language and literacy skills.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Oswego County Community Foundation for its support,” said Sidney Carter, coordinator of the Oswego County Early Childhood Alliance. “This funding will allow us to reach more families in our community and promote healthy language development during these crucial early years. Together, we can make a significant impact on the future of our children.”

The Oswego County Early Childhood Alliance invites all community members to participate in this exciting initiative. For more information about the “Talking is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing” community campaign, or to get involved, please contact Sidney Carter at (315) 343-2344, ext.113 or email oswegocountyeca@icpoc.org.

The Oswego County Early Childhood Alliance is a division of Integrated Community Planning of Oswego County, Inc. that is dedicated to supporting families with young children in Oswego County. Through cross-sector collaboration with families, schools, health care providers and community organizations, the OCECA strives to ensure that every child has equitable access to the resources they need to thrive.
