The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), a division of SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations, in conjunction with the AARP Tax-Aide Program is pleased to offer free annual income tax preparation, e-filing and tax counseling services for the residents of Oswego County. There are no age or income restrictions; however, special attention will be given to those 50 and over.
Tax aide counselors annually receive training on current federal and state tax laws that apply to personal tax returns. They are specially trained to understand those provisions of the tax code that affect senior citizens, and are certified to assist taxpayers.
From Feb. 1 through April 18, the following sites will serve Oswego County residents. Please note: Only in the case of restricted travel due to weather will sites be closed.
Fulton Municipal Building, 141 S. First St. -- Walk-in site; Wednesdays 9 a.m. to noon and 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 1 - April 12.
Oswego: McCrobie Civic Center, 41 Lake St. -- Walk in site; Tuesdays 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 7 – April 18.
Phoenix Public Library, 34 Elm St. – By appointment only. Mondays 1 to 7 p.m. and Wednesdays 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Call to schedule: (Fred) 695-2553, (Bill) 458-1465, (Betty) 934-4333. Feb. 1 – April 18.
Taxpayers should have with them last year’s tax returns, photo ID, all income statements (W-2s, 1099s, all forms indicating federal income tax paid), Social Security card(s) for each person included on the return, all receipts or canceled checks for itemized deductions, and a check for account and routing numbers for direct deposit.
