Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (Cockell) Cook.
She worked at the Oswego Hospital for 25 years retiring in 1988 as Head Supervisor of Medical Records.
She worked for Dr. Kolva, Dr. Morgan and Dr. Baxter.
Shirley was a member of the Lady’s Auxiliary of the Elk’s Club.
Surviving are her children, Margaret Ann Leppert; Vanessa Murray; Jeanne (David) Johnson; John “Jack” (Mary) Haynes II; her sister, Jean Lester; a brother Robert Cook; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grand children, and 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband John “Jack” Haynes, her brothers Harry and William Cook.
Calling hours will be held 4-7pm Wednesday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany St. Oswego.
Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Resurrection, 120 West fifth St. Oswego.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
