The Oswego State men’s lacrosse team has organized a “St. Baldrick’s Night at Fajita Grill” for today. The restaurant will donate 10 percent of all sales between 5-9 PM that night to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which raises money to help find cures to childhood cancers.

Since 2005, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation has raised more than $200 million for life-saving childhood cancer research. It is the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants, second only to the US government.

Locally, the Oswego State athletic department and a committee of local organizers have supported ten years of St. Baldrick’s fundraisers, surpassing the $530,000 mark last spring. For their history of St. Baldrick’s fundraising success, the athletic department received first-place National Association of Division III Athletics Administrators/Josten’s awards for “an on-going community service project” in 2014, and again this year.

The Laker lacrosse team, which started the local St. Baldrick’s efforts in Oswego back in 2007, has the largest fundraising team for the second year in a row, with 33 players and coaches registered.

This year’s annual St. Baldrick’s Day in Oswego fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday, March 26 at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center. For more information, to donate, or to register for the event, go to www.stbaldricks.org
