Book enthusiasts from St. Luke Health Services made a trip to the river's end bookstore, in Oswego, to take part in the latest installment of their "Living Book" series.

The program marks its 12th year as a favorite outing and activity for readers or those who just like to hear a good story and join in conversation.
Each month, St. Luke residents are welcomed by store owner Bill Reilly and his staff. Volunteer and book club leader Mary Ann Hogan reads selected works and leads a discussion about the material covered.
This month, Hogan selected works and passages from a new book entitled, "Remarkable Women in New York State History," featuring an account of local educator, author and "Living Book" series founder Rosemary Nesbitt. Hogan also read selections about Oswego's own Doris Allen and New York's Lucille Ball and Eleanor Roosevelt. The book club members had had connections with all three women either through education, radio and TV, or remembering Safe Haven refugees.
"I enjoy the opportunity to share stories that cover a wide variety of interests and lead what is frequently a lively discussion about the material we cover," Hogan said. "Our group really enjoys this outing and visiting the river's end bookstore."
"The Living Book series is just one of the many ways we ensure that our residents can continue to enjoy their favorite activities in their community," said Donna Rose, St. Luke's director of activities.          "Everyone likes to get out and about and our residents are no exception. On behalf of the many folks, who have over the past 12 years enjoyed taking part in the 'Living Book' series, we thank Bill Reilly and all the staff at the river's end bookstore for their ongoing generosity and consideration in making our residents welcome."
