The organizers for Warm Up Oswego announced today that the event is going through major changes and upgrades in order to revitalize and renew this fun, annual family event. In 2018, Warm Up Oswego will be 13 years old and will bear the tag line "Lucky 13th Annual Warm Up Oswego". In addition, the entire event is taking on a new shape, reviving some original favorite events and adding several new ones.
“We really want to have (Warm Up Oswego) be as much of an outdoor event, as possible.” said Bernadet Pryor, co-chair and coordinator of the family events for Warm Up Oswego 2018. “We felt we needed this year to truly create an outstanding event for the city and citizens of Oswego, so we are taking the time in 2017 to plan and perfect the event for 2018. The idea is to get people out of the house and into the fresh air by creating fun for all family members and to bring the event back as a two day festival.”
The event is slated for February 3rd & 4th of 2018. Warm Up Oswego 2018 will feature the HOT 2K TROT RACE, Family Fun Walk & Run, Snow Scavenger Hunt, Build a Snowman, Snow Bowling, Snow Castle Building, Snow Obstacle Course, TaeKwonDo board Break-A-Thon, the brand new heated Adult VIP tent (food, drinks & LIVE entertainment) event on the East Side and heated Family Tent events on the West Side (family fun, kid crafts & food). Our brand new Wing Walk & Chili Cook-Off has been developed, (originally for 2017) for next years Warm Up and will take place within participating businesses. Buses will take festival goers back and forth from East to West side activities. Fireworks of course will be a part of Warm Up Oswego 2018.
The 2018 committee is headed up Bernadet Pryor from Master Pryor's TaeKwonDo & Victoria Usherwood Gailinas from iHeartOswego.com (Co-Chairmen). Committee members are: Jim Dauphin from Midnight Sun (Senior Advisor), Annmarie Licatese from Strength In Motion Fitness (Race coordinator), Lisa Gray from Oswego County Tourism (East Side Adult VIP tent coordinator) and Leo Pryor from Master Pryor's TaeKwonDo (Event Logistics). Currently they are looking for volunteer committee members for each event at the festival.
A bit of history on Warm Up Oswego: Warm Up Oswego was created by the members of the O.N.E. (Oswego Networking Entrepreneurs) in 2005 by Mary Vanouse, Tony Pauldine, Mary Plummer, Bill Symons and Jim Dauphin among others. The funds made at the event were then donated to Oswego YMCA. In 2006, the Oswego YMCA took over the event in order to be used as a fundraiser for improvements to the YMCA Armory building. In October 2014, the event was given back to the O.N.E. organization and has since been chaired by it's members or volunteers.
