Well Attended Rally on Bridge Street for Hands Off Protest

The Bridge Street Bridge in the center of downtown Oswego served once again as the location of a protest rally led by activist group Indivisible-Oswego County.

More than 250 people came out on a cold, blustery, and rainy Saturday morning to express their views on the president's budget cuts and other policies.

The local Indivisible chapter has been organizing rallies for several weeks. Today's rally was a part of the Nationwide Hands Off protest. Events are being held in all 50 states in large and small cities, towns, and villages.

Numerous passing motorists acknowledged the protesters with horn blasts and thumbs-up gestures. A few vehicles attempted to disrupt the rally by revving their engines, and one vehicle crossed the bridge repeatedly while flying a Trump flag through the open sunroof.

Several people also said there appeared to be an altercation between protesters and two passers-by that settled down after a few moments.

Several people from the area chose to attend rallies in Syracuse and Sackets Harbor that were also held on Saturday.
