Advanced Canning Workshop Held in October

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County is organizing an advanced-level canning workshop on Saturday, October 18th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church located 4372 Church St, Mexico, NY 13114.

This workshop will provide training beyond beginner and intermediate stages. Attendees should have a working knowledge of and prior experience with home canning.

Guest instructor will be Jan Smith, long-time Master Gardener for CCE Oswego County. Smith is certified in food preservation and her focus will specifically be on pressure canning methods and practice. She will also discuss food safety, equipment and maintenance. Smith will also be doing a hands-on canning demonstration which will include carrots and green beans. There will be plenty of time for questions and networking.
