FULTON, NY - Todd Sawyer, a Fulton native and longtime community volunteer, has announced his candidacy for the Oswego County Legislature, District 23.
Sawyer enters the race with a background in military service, financial management and local civic engagement. A 1994 graduate of G. Ray Bodley High School, he later completed his college degree as a non-traditional student while working full-time and using his GI Bill benefits.
Sawyer served eight years in the United States Air Force, where his work focused on financial management and accounting. After his military service, he lived in several states before returning to Fulton. He now works full time at Legrand, Pass & Seymour in electrical infrastructure.
In addition to his professional experience, Sawyer is active in community organizations across Oswego County. He serves on the Oswego County Pride committee and volunteers with his wife, Shannon, through the Block Builder program, supporting neighborhood events and the community garden. He also volunteers with Friends of Quirks Players, assisting local arts programs and Fulton’s high school theater community.
Sawyer said his approach to public service is rooted in everyday community involvement.
“I’m not trying to change the world — just my community,” Sawyer said. “District 23 is home, and I care deeply about the people who live here.”
Family plays a central role in Sawyer’s life. He and Shannon live in Fulton with their son, who is preparing to enter college, and Shannon’s mother, Patty. Sawyer said keeping family close is one of his guiding values.
Sawyer said his candidacy reflects a long-standing commitment to service, volunteerism and strengthening the Fulton community.
