Johnston’s Propane Supports OCO “Sleep Tight” Initiative

Johnston’s Propane Supports OCO “Sleep Tight” Initiative

Oswego County Opportunities (OCO) Development Director Margaret Barclay has announced that Johnston’s Propane Service will be a Silver Level sponsor for the agency’s upcoming “Giving Thanks” fundraiser in support of its “Sleep Tight” initiative.

“Sleep Tight” is a proactive initiative aimed at stopping the spread of insect pests such as bed bugs. “Bed Bugs are no longer a ‘big city’ problem, they are now spreading across Central New York,” said OCO Executive Director Diane Cooper-Currier. “Every child deserves a good night’s sleep; however for many children in Oswego County, the bed bugs are biting. Healthy sleep supports a healthy body, an alert mind ready to learn at school and reduces risks for obesity. We are very appreciative of Johnston’s Propane Service for supporting our efforts and choosing to be part of the solution by helping us provide safe, hygienic bedding for kids in need.”

“Johnston's Propane Service is glad to support OCO in its mission to help children and their families that are less fortunate in our area,” said Thomas Johnston III. “We owe it to give back to the community for supporting our business since 1937. That's 80 years of long standing support!  It’s our way of saying thank you Oswego County!”

OCO’s “Giving Thanks” fundraiser will be held November 1, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Lake Ontario Convention, Event and Conference Center in Oswego. The event will feature a number of food stations offering an assortment of harvest season inspired delicacies and refreshments from Oswego County’s most popular restaurants including Canale’s Restaurant, Mill House Market, La Parrilla, Blue Moon Grill, The Press Box, Mimi’s Drive-In, The Eis House, GS Steamers, and Alex’s On the Water. Additional stations will offer choices from Ontario Orchards, CiTi Culinary Arts, Appledale Orchards, Colosse Cheese, and OCO Nutrition Services. Wine and beer samples from Eagle Beverage will pair with the foods featured at each station. World renowned guitarist, Loren Barrigar will provide the entertainment for the evening.

Tickets to OCO’s “Giving Thanks” celebration are $30 per person and include food, refreshments, and beer and wine tastings. For more information or to purchase tickets visit, Buy tickets for Oswego County Opportunities, Inc. You can also log on to OCO’s website, www.oco.org or contact Margaret Barclay at 315-598-4717, ext. 1082.
