Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R,C,I,Ref–Pulaski) today announced that he has received endorsements for his re-election bid from two of the state’s major business-advocacy organizations – Unshackle Upstate and the Business Council of New York State.

Unshackle Upstate is a non-partisan advocacy coalition fighting for the interests of upstate New Yorkers as the balance of power in Albany shifts dramatically to downstate interests. The organization supports upstate interests in the areas of economic growth, business opportunities, education and protecting taxpayers.

The Business Council’s membership is made up of roughly 2,400 companies, local chambers of commerce and professional and trade associations. Nearly three-quarters of Business Council members are small businesses. Combined with its large corporate members, organizations represented by the Business Council employ more than 1.2 million New Yorkers.

“Unshackle Upstate and the Business Council are among New York’s most visible and highly-respected advocacy organizations,” Leader Barclay said. “Their expertise and the collective ingenuity of their members will be driving forces behind any successful recovery efforts here in New York. They have always been valuable partners, and I look forward to continuing to work together to improve our cost-of-living, business climate and economic opportunities. I am sincerely grateful for their support.”

Leader Barclay represents the 120th Assembly District, which includes the Oswego County towns of Albion, Amboy, Boylston, Constantia, Granby, Hastings, Mexico, New Haven, Orwell, Palermo, Parish, Redfield, Richland, Sandy Creek, Schroeppel, Scriba, Volney, West Monroe and Williamstown; the cities of Oswego and Fulton; the Onondaga County town of Lysander; and the Jefferson County town of Ellisburg. In January, he was elected unanimously by his colleagues as the Leader of the Assembly Minority Conference.
