Michael Bielak has been named the Sports Information Director (SID) for Oswego State as announced by Owego's Director of Athletics Sue Viscomi Tuesday, Aug. 6.
Bielak replaces Adele Burk who served as the SID for four years and was recently named the Director of Media Relations for the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).
In May of 2010, Bielak graduated from St. John Fisher College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in communications/journalism with a minor in philosophy. The Syracuse native worked three years as a student assistant in the college's sports information office under Norm Kieffer before becoming an assistant in September 2011.
During his time as an assistant at Fisher, Bielak covered several NCAA Championships, including an Elite 8 appearance by the college's football team in 2011 and a Sweet 16 appearance by the women's lacrosse program in 2012. He also traveled with the men's golf team to the 2011 and 2012 NCAA Championships, covering all four rounds, each year, as the Cardinals went on to capture back-to-back top 10 finishes.
Outside of Fisher, Bielak also worked on media relations staffs for the 2010 NCAA Men's Basketball Regional in Buffalo and the Duramed Futures Tour (the LPGA's development tour) Alliance Bank Golf Classic in August of 2010. He also spent the past two summers working for the Rochester Red Wings, the Minnesota Twins Triple-A affiliate.
Bielak will begin Aug. 7, 2013.
