News from the Assembly Minority Leader

Statement From Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay

Will Barclay

After a great deal of consideration, I have decided that I will not seek re-election to the 120th Assembly District. I intend to step down as Minority Leader in the coming days, allowing for a smooth transition to new leadership early in the legislative session.

Double-Double, Career High, More in Laker Win

The Oswego State women's basketball team lit up the scoreboard in a nonconference win over Cazenovia, 91-80, on the road on Friday evening. With the win, the Lakers move to 4-7 this season, while the Wildcats fall to 3-5.

Oswego was sharp offensively, particularly in the first half. After a 3-pointer by Quincey Zimmerman gave the Lakers a two point lead with just under six minutes to go in the first quarter, Oswego never surrendered the lead. With a 66.7 field goal percentage in the first half, the Lakers increased their advantage to 54-29 by halftime. Oswego added 14 points in the third quarter, and another 23 in the final quarter to secure the victory. The Lakers' 91 points are their most in a game this season.

Five Lakers put up double digits against the Wildcats, with Courtney Ameele leading the team. The senior set a new career-high, scoring 27 points on the night. Twenty-four of Ameele's points came from field goals, while the remaining three came from free-throws.

Classmate Zana Dillard was another highlight of the Lakers' sharp offensive night. The Rochester native picked up her first double-double of the season, finishing the night with 10 points and 16 rebounds. Dillard's 10 points were a new season-high, while her 16 rebounds tied her season-high.

The Lakers will return to action in the new year when they hit the road to face New Paltz at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 5.
