The Oswego State golf team wrapped up its 2013-14 campaign with a third place finish at the 8th Annual Laker Spring Invitational, hosted by the Lakers at the Oswego Country Club. As a team, Oswego shot a two-day total of 634 to trail only St. John Fisher College's winning cumulative score of 617 and St. Lawrence University's second place 618.
Senior John Mackie led the way for the Lakers, shaving six strokes off his Saturday round to shoot a Sunday 74 and a team-best 36-hole 154. Mackie's total was good for a tie in fifth place on the individual leaderboard.
On Sunday, Dan North also brought in a score considerably lower than his first round outing, slimming from a Saturday 83 to a Sunday 75. His 158 took third for Oswego behind Mackie and Omari Howard, who was consistent both days, shooting a 78 on Saturday and wrapping with a 79 on the final day. Howard's 157 put him in the top 10 for the tournament with a tie for ninth place.
Rounding out the scorers for Oswego on Sunday was Kyle Brockmann, needing 83 strokes for a two-round 165.
