Senior Nikki Greco of the Oswego State women`s lacrosse team has collected two more honors for her stellar year in net. Greco was selected to play in the 2014 Intercollegiate Women`s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) North-South All-Star game and was honored as an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Mid-Atlantic Second Team member.
The goaltender was one of just 22 players picked to represent the North in the IWLCA Division III North-South All-Star game that will take place at 2 p.m. on June 7 at Cabrini College in Radnor, Penn. Greco joins six other SUNYAC student-athletes on the North team.
Earlier in June, Greco was honored as a First Team All-Empire and a Third Team All-American by the IWLCA.
The ECAC released its end-of-the-year awards on Thursday evening, making Greco the only goalie on its Second Team. Only one goalie was placed on both the first and second teams, with Greco nabbing one as five other conference members earned spots on the teams. The SUNYAC also had the Offensive Player of the Year and shared the Rookie of the Year award.
A native of Syracuse, Greco finished this season ranked eighth in the country in save percentage (.540) and 24th in total saves with the College's single-season record of 163. Greco's goals-against average of 8.42 also ranks in the top 50 nationally, garnering the 32nd spot.
Over the past two seasons after transferring to Oswego, the goalie made 281 saves at a .516 clip. She also had a career 9.47 goals-against average, collected 62 ground balls and caused 19 turnovers.
