The Empire 8 has named Zach Hiris and Sean Paul Owen of the Oswego State golf team to its President’s List for the fall 2017 semester.
To receive this honor, student-athletes must earn a 3.75 grade point average or higher and be a full-time member of an institution, while displaying positive conduct on and off campus. Hiris, a meteorology major, has been with the Laker golf team since 2014, while Owen, who is majoring in finance, joined in 2015. The seniors are two of 796 athletes that were named to the list.
Owen and Hiris helped their teams, Oswego A and B, to the top spots at the Oswego State Fall Invitational. With a score of 148 to place first individually, Owen’s squad finished second overall with a score of 630, while Hiris finished with an individual score of 159 to place eighth and help his team clinch first.
Hiris, Owen and the Laker golf team return to action on April 11, starting their spring season at the Keuka Spring Invitational.
