News from the Assembly Minority Leader

Statement From Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay

Will Barclay

After a great deal of consideration, I have decided that I will not seek re-election to the 120th Assembly District. I intend to step down as Minority Leader in the coming days, allowing for a smooth transition to new leadership early in the legislative session.

Laker Defense Strong in Win Over Bears

The Oswego State women’s basketball team defeated Potsdam, 49-32, on the road on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, Oswego improves to 7-14 on the season and 4-10 in SUNYAC play, while Potsdam falls to 1-20 overall and remains winless at 0-15 in conference action.

Oswego began the game with three straight baskets to take a 6-0 lead and never looked back. Heading into halftime, the Lakers held the Bears to just 15 points. The Laker defense put up a similar performance in the remaining two quarters, only allowing 17 points from Potsdam.

Throughout the game, Oswego was strong in capitalizing off of Potsdam’s mistakes. The Bears committed 12 turnovers, which the Lakers were able to convert into 18 points.

Rachael Windhausen and Courtney Ameele led the Lakers offensively. Windhausen notched a team-high 19 points, her second highest total of the season. The junior went 9-for-10 at the free throw line, and recorded four assists and blocks as well. Ameele, the newest member of Oswego’s 1,000 point club, contributed 15 points of her own.

Zana Dillard, who leads the Lakers with an average of 11.4 rebounds per game, put up a team-high 14 rebounds against the Bears. The senior also led the team with three steals.

Having won their last two games, the Lakers look to continue their winning ways when they host Buffalo State at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
