The Oswego State men's and women's swimming and diving teams each notched a win over Alfred State on Saturday afternoon. With the men's 188-103 victory, they remain undefeated with a 5-0 record. The women captured their fourth-straight win with a score of 205-92 to improve to 4-1 on the season.
Both the men and women started the afternoon off strong. In the first event of the day, the men placed first and second in the 400-yard medley relay to collect 15 points. The underclassmen team of JJ Alaniz, Luis Perez, Walker Snowden and Alex Davie finished with a time of 3:49.78 to take first.
The women followed up with a first and second place in the 400-yard medley relay as well. Hannah Jensen, Emily Ross, Lok Chi Hon and Riley Synan clocked a time of 4:26.81 to place first while Kelsey Oliverio, Janna Baggio, Kayla Merrill and Logan Turner finished less than four seconds behind. The Lakers kept their momentum going, not allowing a first-place finish from Alfred State until the seventh event.
Oswego was especially strong on the diving board. Senior Luke Snyder beat his four Saxon competitors in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives to rake in 18 points for the Lakers. In the women's 1-meter dive, Miranda Frascatore took first while Meghan Maquet captured second place, and the two swapped spots in the 3-meter dive.
Next, the Lakers will look to continue their strong starts to their seasons as they host Brockport on Saturday at 1 p.m.
